The malaysian flag is also known as the jalur Gemilang. It is one of the symbols of Malaysia's national sovereignty. The flag consists of 14 red and white stripes, with a blue background and yellow crescent and 14 stars in the upper left corner. The ratio of length to width is 2:1. The flag has been in use since the founding of malaysia on september 16, 1963.
